THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
SCIENCE + ART

At the Belfast School of Architecture, we see ourselves as having the best of both worlds: where science and art meet in creative collaboration.

Ours is a broad-based, inclusive and non-elitist approach to architecture in the widest sense. With our innovative approach to architectural education our aim is to nurture proactive, creative, imaginative and responsible architects who seek social value in shaping the practices of tomorrow.

Historically the original, and oldest architecture course in Northern Ireland, The Belfast School of Architecture at Ulster University continues to develop this long and distinguished legacy, in positioning architecture amidst a holistic education of design, craft, science and artistry.

Whilst challenging and rewarding, the course is supported by a high level of investment in the quality of our purpose-built facilities, which provide some of the best and most generous architecture studios anywhere across the UK and Ireland.

Research is at the core of what we do. Research drives and informs our SuperStudio teaching, which is led by staff teams from both practice and academic research, who support each student to confidently position themselves as critically reflective and independent thinkers.

We are rooted in our artistic and scientific legacy: looking forward from within some of the highest levels of international research in the Built Environment, addressing through architecture, such key issues as climate change, while set amidst the creative and dynamic city based Belfast School of Art.
